NFL Fans React: Bears vs Steelers Fan Mail-In Questions

This Sunday, the Chicago Bears faced off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a game then went down to the final drive. Our inbox was flooded with questions following the intense Sunday morning matchup. The NFL fan reaction questions we received range from initial reactions, season outlooks, and individual player performances from fans of both teams.

These submissions are more than commentary–they’re real postgame analysis from viewers who live and breathe sports. Our interactive fan feedback section brings these perspectives together highlighting the voices of fans following the conclusion of the week’s biggest games.

Are the Bears really contenders?

From our perspective, certainly. The Bears were missing 7 out of their 11 usual starters on defense and still grinded out the win against a stingy Steelers offense. The secondary held backup QB Mason Rudolph to just 171 yards passing and holding star wideout DK Metcalf to just 22 yards on 5 catches. The offense looked about as good as it has all season. While the running game was slower than usual, Caleb Williams and the passing attack picked up the slack as Williams was 19.35 for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns, 2 of which caught by DJ Moore. We can expect this offense to continue to get better as the weeks go on and we can also expect the defense to grow as they are expecting star CB Jaylon Johnson and LB TJ Edwards to return next week against the Eagles.

What is Next for the Steelers?

For the Steelers this game was a mess. An injured Aaron Rodgers was held out of this game to nurse a fracture in his non-throwing wrist he suffered last week against the Bengals. While Rudolph didn’t play badly, his costly turnovers early and late into the game shifted the momentum to Chicago’s side. With this game, the Steelers have dropped to second place in the AFC North as the Ravens have won 5 straight games and taken the lead in the division. While Rodgers is expected to return next week, the schedule doesn’t get any easier. The Steelers now have to face the Bills, Ravens, and a hot Dolphins team in the next 3 weeks. If the Steelers offense can’t get consistent production, it is difficult seeing them stay in the division race.

What players surprised us most?

Bears CB Nashon Wright continued his fantastic season as he picked off Rudolph early in the first quarter that led to an early Chicago touchdown. A trio of Bears rookies in Colston Loveland, Kyle Monongai, and Luther Burden continue to see increasing roles within head coach Ben Johnson’s offense. Loveland has scored a touchdown in 3 of the last weeks and Monongai in his last 4. Kenneth Gainwell continues to be a bright spot in the Steelers offense as he has consistently broken chunk plays in the running and passing game and had a touchdown negated due to penalty in this game.
